The Mandurah Magic women’s outfit made it five wins from five outings when they dominated the South West Slammers on Saturday night.
Hitting the road for the second straight week failed to deter a determined Magic line-up, which was able to relax its starters and give minutes to rotation players after a scintillating first half.
The Magic set the tone with a 25-point first quarter steering them to a six-point lead at the first break, but it was in the second period they took complete control.
A heightened offence teamed with a bullying defence paved the way for the Magic to outscore the Slammers 27-9 in the second term, as they romped to a 24-point lead at half time.
The South West clawed back some of the momentum in the third but it wasn’t enough to arrest the game as the Magic finished with a whopping 86-51 victory.
Carly Boag was again a force for the Magic, piling up 19 points and 11 rebounds.
She also got the better of Slammers star Brittany Hodges, restricting her to just 13 points and eight rebounds on the night.
Casey Mihovilovich wasn’t far behind Boag in the scoring tally, finishing with 18 points, eight rebounds, two assists and five steals.
The Magic also received a hearty contribution from their bench, with five players coming off the pine to score a collective 23 points.
Emma Klasztorny pitched in seven points and six rebounds as the Magic won the total rebound count 59-41.
Another encouraging stat for the Magic is that every player finished the game positive in the plus/minus column, meaning the Slammers failed to outscore Mandurah no matter the line-up.
The Magic will continue their run of road games when they travel to face the Joondalup Wolves this coming weekend.
The Wolves sit in fifth place with a 3-2 record.
