It might look like a completely different venue, but Pinjarra’s Senior Citizens Hall is almost ready for the community to enjoy after receiving a significant facelift recently.
The works are part of the Shire of Murray Senior Citizens Hall renovation project, which hopes to freshen up the venue.
As part of the works, the outdated brickwork was covered and an acoustic panel suspended ceiling, two new reverse air conditioners and LED lighting were installed.
The wandoo floors were also sanded and sealed to reveal their rich honey colour, and the windows were treated to remove bore stains before the new blinds were installed.
Shire of Murray chief Dean Unsworth said that the project, which was funded through the state government’s Royalties for Regions, Lotterywest and the Murray Music and Drama Club, was nearing completion, with only a few finishing touches to go.
“The Pinjarra Civic Centre will also receive a freshen up this year, with air conditioning, a new speaker system and fire retardant acoustic curtains to be installed, and the flooring refurbished,” he said.
“A 70 inch LCD flat screen TV and WiFi will soon feature in the facility as well.”
The remaining works will be rolled out over the next few months during the school holiday period to avoid disrupting resident use.
The venue, located on Pinjarra Road, is available for residents and community members to hire for special functions and activities.
It can host up to 110 guest and it’s suitable for meetings, functions, and clubs.
