A Mandurah man pleaded guilty in the Mandurah Magistrates Court on Friday to stealing $3000 worth of car parts and accessories from Purelink Commercial in Bibra Lake.
The court heard Joshua Graham took $2000 worth of property from the store on January 27, 2017, and $1000 worth on January 28.
The offence was recorded on CCTV footage which the owner of the business put on Facebook, hoping someone might identify the offenders.
Another offender involved in the incident contacted the owner to confess, and four days later Graham handed himself in to police, returning all the property, though one set of tyres had the tread worn down.
Prosecution said Graham had sold those tyres for $500, but they were retrieved and Graham returned the money to the buyer.
He said he had stolen the items because of financial pressures, and his car had needed new parts.
“I didn’t want to risk a yellow sticker,” he said.
Graham said he sold the stolen tyres because he “wanted to make a quick buck”.
Graham was fined $800, plus $98.50 in court costs.
He was also ordered to pay $1000 to Purelink Commercial to cover the cost of the used tyres.
