A 28-year-old Ballajura delivery driver pleaded guilty to an assault charge in the Mandurah Magistrates Court on Friday, and was sentenced with a 12 month intensive supervision order.
Police prosecution told the court that on October 13, 2016, Anesone Vaiuta was driving on Forrest Highway when he felt another driver, who he let overtake him, was driving aggressively.
The court heard Vaiuta then became aggressive in his own driving, and eventually both cars pulled over.
Vaiuta approached the victim’s vehicle on foot and with a clenched fist punched the victim on the side of his face.
The victim sustained a cut on his right cheekbone and severe swelling to his right eye.
The magistrate said Vaiuta was lucky to avoid imprisonment for the charge, given he had two previous serious assault matters on his record, but served him with a 12-month intensive supervision order.
