The Jarrahdale Walk group are kicking off their new 2017 Walks Program season off with style, with two exciting events lined up.
First, the man known as “The Birdman”, Eric McCrum, will lead a talk at Bruno Gianatti Memorial Hall, Munro Street, Jarrahdale, on Saturday April 8 from 2.30pm.
Mr McCrum has become famous for his ability to imitate almost any bird found in the bush, as well as being able to identify a huge amount of flowers or plants by their Latin names.
His knowledge of the Noongar history of West Australian land is also substantial.
Then on April 22, the Jarrahdale Heritage Society will host a Ghost Walk through the Jarrahdale Forest, exploring the lives, milestones and past-times of the area’s original pioneers.
The tour will begin again from Bruno Gianatti Memorial Hall and then through the township to visit the ghosts of the past.
The Eric McCrum walk is a gold coin donation, while the Ghost Walk is $5 for adults and $2 for children under 13.
Ghost walkers are asked to bring along walking shoes a torch or lantern and insect repellent. Sorry, but no pets.
Refreshments will be available at both events.
For more information on Mr McCrum’s walk, call Bernie on 0406 980 677, and for the Ghost Walk call Joy on 0429 810 617.
