Former Pinjarra local and Brisbane Lions AFL Women’s star Sabrina Frederick-Traub will play in the competitions’ first grand final on Saturday.
The Lions went undefeated through the first AFL Women’s regular season and will face off against Adelaide in the grand final at Queensland’s Metricon Stadium.
The 20-year-old Frederick-Traub, who spent time at the Peel Thunderbirds and South Fremantle, will go into the game on the back of a stellar season of form.
She was one of nine All-Australian’s chosen from the Lions, and is a potential best-and-fairest for the competition’s first season.
Speaking to the Brisbane Lions’ website, Frederick-Traub said the side had been able to use negative predictions about the team as a motivating factor in their undefeated season.
“Doubt is a really powerful thing and it can push a team to really stand up and I think that's what it did for us,” she said.
“We just wanted to prove people wrong and inside the four walls we all believed in each other and inspired each other, so that’s all that really mattered for us.”
