On Friday three students from Comet Bay College gave their locks the lop for the World’s Greatest Shave, a national event to raise funds for the Leukemia Foundation.
The school has participated in the day for the last four years, with students stepping up to the shears at a lunchtime assembly, after collecting sponsors.
Students Jonathon Davey, Ben Allard and Isabelle Juric went for the full shave, and Isabelle’s hair was also donated to make wigs for children undergoing treatment.
Students Stacey Fletcher, Matthew Wilkinson and Ashleigh Bonsor dyed their hair.
Teacher David Karcheski organised the day and said it was a great cause.
“So far we have raised just over $800, but all the money is not in yet,” Mr Karcheski said.
“All the money raised goes to fund Leukemia research.”
According to the Leukemia Foundation, over 12,000 Australians will develop leukaemia, lymphoma or myeloma this year.
The Leukaemia Foundation is the only Australia-wide charity dedicated to the care and cure of people with leukaemia, lymphoma, myeloma and related blood disorders.
