Mandurah’s safe haven for women and children Pat Thomas House is looking for committed volunteers who want to make a difference in the lives of families experiencing domestic violence.
The organisation is looking for three board members to take over tasks such as industrial relations, PR, and marketing and human resources.
Pat Thomas House chair person Jill Mather said the position would require people to prepare and attend monthly board meetings, to sit on specialised committees and to support and promote the visions of the organisation among the wider community.
Mandurah’s Pat Thomas House provides a safe space for women and children in the Peel region escaping domestic and family violence.
The organisation provides crisis accommodation for those fleeing violence at the Estelle Anne Shelter, outreach support, group programs, legal help, child advocacy and counselling, and Womenzlink – an early intervention program to keep women and families safe in their homes.
In addition to providing a safe space for those families, Pat Thomas House also hopes to empower women and children to assist them in creating a bright future to overcome violence and abuse.
All advertised positions will require board members to hold a recent national police record check and to stay in office until the end of the term.
"The interviews will be towards the end of March and successful applicant will start their service immediately." Ms Mather said.
All board members re-commit each year.
