Parents and students at local schools have been warned to take care when going to and from school following a report of a suspicious man interacting with a student.
A year 10 male student from Kolbe Catholic College had just got off the bus near Grand Ocean Boulevard and La Manche Avenue in Port Kennedy when he noticed a grey sedan driving by on March 2.
The male driver got out of the car and asked the student to go with him. The man then offered the student $150 to go with him, but the student ran off.
The man was described as being 5’9, aged between 60-65 years old, and balding.
The incident has been reported to the police, who are asking students, parents and teachers who notice anything suspicious in the community to call 131 444 and make a report.
Schools are advising the following safety precautions for students:
- Always travel in company
- Stay in well-lit areas
- Stay in view of others
- Be alert, and keep a mobile phone
- Do not hesitate to run from a situation in which you feel at risk
- Report suspicious behavior to parents, school and the police, and note number plates of cars and/or clothing or distinguishing features of suspicious individuals
