Using an app on their phones and tablets children in the Shire of Murray will have the opportunity to discover hidden worlds and play with unknown creatures in several parks across the Shire of Murray as part of 2017 Parks Week.
Visitors to the Sir Ross McLarty Third Oval, Dwellingup Oval and Adventurescape in South Yunderup who have download the Magical Park app on their phones will be able to rediscover their local park and interact with fairies, giant teddy bears and real-size dinosaurs in unknown worlds.
Magical Park app is the world’s first digital playground.
It is suitable for children between the age of six and 11, and can only be played in certain parks which have been vetted for safety to ensure a positive play environment.
The app was created in a partnership between Geo AR Games, the New Zealand Recreation Association (NZRA) and several local councils, it is free to download and it does not incorporate data mining or in-game advertising.
Shire of Murray president Maree Reid said the app would encourage local children to get active and discover the Shire’s parks.
“The app is geofenced to suit the locations, uses minimal mobile data and is highly engaging, which means siblings and parents may also be enticed to play,” she said.
The app will be available for people visiting the Shire of Murray’s parks from March 4 to March 12.
It will be available to download at the AppStore and Googleplay.
