A McGowan Labor Government will look at developing a suburban Urgent Care Clinic in Australind to allow local people to be treated faster and avoid sitting in the Bunbury Hospital emergency department.
Shadow Health Minister Roger Cook said Australind’s Brecken Health Care was an ideal site for a new Community Urgent Care Clinic, providing a much closer local emergency treatment option for Australind and Eaton people while taking pressure off Bunbury Hospital.
“Having an Urgent Care Clinic at Australind will provide a nearby service for the people of Eaton and Australind to avoid the wait at emergency departments,” he said.
The final location of WA Labor's Urgent Care Clinics will be determined by a population analysis and an expression of interest process involving existing and proposed primary care centres.
The clinics will be bulk-billed and staffed by GPs and nurses and will specialise in treating non-urgent conditions, allowing people with non-life threatening health issues to avoid the wait at Bunbury Hospital.
Collie-Preston MLA Mick Murray said it is very important country health services are not left to fall behind.
“It is so important that we don’t let our country health services fall behind. Developing an Urgent Care Clinic in Australind will provide a reliable local health service while taking pressure off Bunbury Hospital.”
“I’ll be doing everything I can to get an UCC developed in Australind for the people of Eaton, Australind and Millbridge.”
