Labor’s candidate for Dawesville Adam Woodage has announced $30,000 would be allocated to the Mandurah Southern Districts Fire Brigade if Labor wins the March 11 election.
He said the funding would allow the Brigade to better respond to the bushfire threat in areas such as Herron, Bouvard, Dawesville and sections of the Yalgorup National Park.
“We know that bush fires are increasing and they’re getting worse,” he said.
“It is important to support our local firefighters who put themselves on the line every time there is a bush fire.
“This funding allows the Mandurah Southern Districts Fire Brigade to upgrade and maintain equipment and support their work as a fire brigade.”
The funding is part of Labor’s Plan for Peel policy which also includes a pledge of $30,000 to upgrade and repair the Falcon Volunteer Fire and Rescue Service.
