With Fairbridge Festival now just a few months away, it’s time to announce the second round of artists making their way to Fairbridge Village on April 23 and 24 for what is sure to be another blockbuster of world and folk music, performances, art and family fun.
An irrepressibly charming 10-piece that specialises in raw early '80s funk, Sexon on Toast ply their trade in hard-edged new jack swing, blazing improvisation and heartfelt blue-eyed soul.
Their choreographed stage act, larrikinism and danceability have won the hearts of casual punters and hardcore fans right across Australia.
Mixing rock, folk, pop, and laden with strong harmonies, Miss Eileen and King Lear have created a unique sound that compliments their dynamic personalities.
Fairbridge Festival audiences who remember The Perch Creek Jug Band will instantly recognise the brother and sister duo in this awesome side project.
Emily Wurramara is a songstress from Groote Eylandt who is driven by passion for culture that is heard through every beat and skip of her deeply engaging and personal songs sung in both English and Anindilyakwa, the traditional language of her home in East Arnhem Land.
With Queensland Music Award nominations and a showcase at Big Sound, Wurramara regularly performs across the country, garnering a legion of fans.
Next, there’s a whole lot of buzz around the WAM Best World Act-nominated Soukouss Internationale, acclaimed for their gorgeous vocal melodies, pumping Afro-Latin booty-shaking rhythms and scorching guitar solos.
Celebrated folkster Lucy Peach has had a big twelve months; releasing her single and accompanying video ,Be So Good, winning a WAM Award for Best Folk Act, playing a slew of Western Australian festivals and releasing her sophomore EP, Silver Tongue.
Plus there’s the multi-award winning hip hop/jazz fusion powerhouse Pow Negro; the swarthy alt-country/folk product of Ben TD, Open Swimmer; hand-crafted rock entrepeaneurs Lazy Colts; and town-hopping troubadour Harry Hookey.
