Mandurah police have taken a man into custody following what is believed to be a violent incident involving a hammer.

Police were called to Dudley Park about noon on Saturday.
At this stage it is believed a man had been threatening a woman with a hammer on Goomarl Street.
The man is then understood to have been involved in a car crash on Boundary Road.
Local officers and detectives remain at the scene and are questioning nearby residents.
