The hourly rates charged by tradies has jumped 12.5 per cent over the last year, according to a new survey.
The quarterly Tradie Price Index released on Monday by jobs website ServiceSeeking.com.au also revealed Western Australia was the most expensive state to hire a tradie, with the average hourly rate 10.4 per cent above the national average.
Plumbers remain the most expensive tradie to hire in WA, up 1.6 per cent on last quarter, charging an average hourly price of $94.44.
Electricians ($92.24) aren’t far behind, with an increase of 4.2 per cent in average hourly price since last quarter.
The real trade to look out for is landscaping, which recorded a 32.2 per cent increase year on year hike.
However, the cost of tradespeople working in building and construction dropped more than 15 per cent, compared to the year before.
Weighted average hourly rate currently sits at $76.45, according to the survey.
Hourly rates are “gross" rates and aside from including the cost of labour, also cover the cost of running the business including insurance, tools, work vehicles, insurance and superannuation.
