As their pre-season kicks into gear, the Mandurah Pirates will be getting some first class lessons from the Western Force who are set to visit the club on Wednesday, January 25.
As part of the Force’s community engagement program for 2017, they will be running some Pirates juniors through a series of drills in what is just one of five planned visits to Mandurah throughout the year.
Pirates president Kevin Williams said the visit would provide Mandurah youngsters with a great chance to see some of their sporting heroes up close.
“As it is in any sport, all kids have their idols,” he said.
“This is a great chance for kids to see a different level of the sport and get a small taste of the professional side of it.
“It’s also just great for our club as a whole to welcome the Force to Mandurah five times throughout 2017.
“Players certainly appreciate picking up knowledge from the pros and there are a number of WA talents on the Force’s roster, so our players can relate to them.”
The squad will be running basic game sessions with any juniors wishing to participate and will be signing autographs and taking photos after the session.
The Force have had an intensive pre-season and with the likes of current Wallabies Dane Haylett Petty, Luke Morahan and Adam Coleman in their squad they are confident of a chance to qualify for the finals this season.
Mandurah will also be looking to play finals again in 2017, after an impressive 2016 season.
The team has recently returned to the track for its pre-season training regime. Anyone interested in joining the club can attend one of the sessions at the Meadow Springs Sporting Complex on Oakmont Avenue.
