A well-timed jump and some classy dashing helped Pepper Fire claim a win in the group three Mandurah Mail Birthday Cup for trainer Chris Halse on Friday night.
The rough chance jumped well from box four and despite racing outside managed to edge the short-odds Max Profit for the lead early.
Pepper Fire extended its lead coming around the break and managed to fight off an admirable challenge from Max Profit to take the victory.
The $11.80 winner provided punters with handsome dividends as it edged out Max Profit and Fire Blaze, which finished in third.
In other racing action, Who’s Got It pulled out a huge upset win in race three.
Paying $45.60 to win on the tote, the hound dashed to victory ahead of shorter-odds dogs Pavel Monelli and Robbie’s Entity.
Impressive Levy also picked up an impressive win against the odds, paying dividends of $13.40 for first.
