Travelling to Darwin and lacing up the boots in their first AFL Women’s pre-season game did little to halt the confidence of former Peel Thunderbirds duo Tayla Bresland and Demi Okely, who helped Fremantle claim a win over Adelaide on Saturday.
The AFL Women’s pre-season opener saw competition favourites Fremantle start their inaugural campaign with a victory, with Bresland and Okely showing good touch.
Bresland was especially impressive, marshaling the defence and keeping a tight hold on a dangerous Adelaide forward line.
Her efforts went a long way in securing the 8.10 (58) to 4.12 (36) win.
Okely contributed to the team by finding the ball in space on occasion and moving it forward.
Unfortunately the duo were not joined by fellow ex-Thunderbird and Fremantle teammate Kira Phillips, who was absent from the match.
