Mandurah MP David Templeman has congratulated members of Belswan Retirement Village’s Men’s Cave for their generosity this Christmas.
The Belswan Retirement Village men established a wood working group three years ago at the Village and started out making wooden toys for local children from needy families.
Over the last three years they have donated their toys to many local community groups and organisations for distribution to needy families.
“This week these wonderful blokes donated dozens of specially made toys to our local women’s refuge, Pat Thomas House,” Mr Templeman said.
“These toys will go towards the children who will be staying at the Refuge and will bring them and their families much joy.”
Mr Templeman said he was honoured to join the members and their partners at a special Christmas afternoon tea at Belswan last week and he acknowledged the generosity of the group and their compassion for the kids who will receive their gifts.
“We are so lucky to have so many local people in Mandurah who are so generous and so compassionate about helping others who are doing it tough,” he said.
“These blokes from Belswan and their partners and families are wonderful people and their gifts will be gratefully accepted by those children that receive them.”
