The AFL has offered to pay for a drug rehabilitation program for former football star Ben Cousins.
The Herald Sun reports that a number of influential figures and business people have offered to help the Brownlow medallist.
Its understood AFL Chief Executive Gillon McLachlan made the offer to Cousins' father Bryan several months ago - and that the offer still stands.
It is also reported that Kim Ledger, Heath Ledger's father, has also tried to help.
Cousins has admitted going through "a bit of a tough time" and revealed he has no permanent home after he appeared in a Perth court on Thursday.
He was fined $600 and released on bail when he appeared at Armadale Magistrates Court for breaching a violence restraining order taken out by his former partner Maylea Tinecheff, the mother of his two children.
When he left court he told waiting media that he considered himself "really lucky" to be released after previously admitting he expected to spend Christmas in jail.
The 38-year-old went into more details of his difficult personal life when he talked to a journalist who offered him a lift.
"Its hard to know where to go," he told the News Corp reporter.
"I am living out of a backpack at the moment. I move between three mates' houses, spend time on different couches."
