Fairbridge Festival announced on Thursday the opening of a new set of songwriting workshops available to young talented artists across WA, including Mandurah.
Teenagers aged 12 to 18 will have the opportunity to spend half a day learning what makes a good song and how to perform it from award-winning songwriters such as Andrew Winton, Roly Skender and David Hyams.
The workshops will also provide them with hands-on assistance, professional advice and hints on how to hone their songs.
On January 13, composer, producer and multi-instrumentalist David Hyams will be teaching Mandurah’s emerging songwriters what audiences and song competition judges look for in an artist and how to present their songs to both audiences and judges.
The workshop will take off at 9am at the Mandurah Performing Arts Centre (MPAC) and it’s expected to finish around 1pm.
Participants are encouraged to book their spot online through the Fairbridge Festival website.
Workshops are $25 per person, and participants can bring an instrument along to join in.
Other workshops locations include Albany, Bunbury and Perth.
Young artists are also encouraged to participate in the festival’s youth songwriting competition Act-Belong-Commit Fairbridge Festival Quest.Entries are open until March 3, 2017.
