The construction of the new Mandurah Traffic Bridge is well on its way, with the third section scheduled to be completed before Christmas.
The finished section will extend the bridge a further 21 metres, and take the launch nose over the construction site fence to the water’s edge.
Works will ramp-up on the eastern side of the estuary, with steel formworks being erected for the pier pile caps and concrete pours scheduled prior to Christmas.
The floating pontoon jetty on the eastern foreshore will be used as access for this work.
Work has also begun on the eastern and western foreshore boardwalks with precast concrete panels lifted in place, both areas can be clearly seen from the shared paths around the bridge.
The Mandurah Traffic Bridge worksite will close down for Christmas, restarting on January 3.
Works will continue on the pouring and launching of the bridge segments in early 2017 with the launch nose expected to reach the eastern foreshore by the middle of the year.
A spokesperson said Main Roads wished to remind the community that with the busy festive season upon us, including the annual Christmas pageant, the fenced off construction areas are out of bounds.
This includes the eastern foreshore area immediately next to The Heritage Brasserie, as well as the bridge piers and pier caps, floating pontoon jetties and new boardwalks.
