A 41-year-old Warnbro man was arrested last night after allegedly attacking a motorcyclist with an axe during a road rage incident.
Just after 5pm on Thursday, the 38-year-old motorcyclist was riding south on Warnbro Sound Avenue in when it is alleged the driver of a Mazda almost hit him.
The drivers argued before stopping at a nearby bus stop where an physical altercation allegedly took place between the two men before the driver of the Mazda left.
Police will allege the the man returned a short time later armed with a small axe.
He hit the victim several times resulting in him receiving a large deep laceration to his head.
Members of the public intervened and disarmed the man who then left the scene before police arrived on the scene.
The motorcyclist was taken to Rockingham Hospital for treatment.
As a result of inquiries by Rockingham Local Policing Team officers, South Metro Central Response Officers and Mandurah Detectives, the 41-year-old was charged with common assault, assault occasioning bodily harm and an act or omission causing bodily harm.
He is due to appear before the Rockingham Magistrates Court on Friday.
