Santa Claus will make an early appearance in Golden Bay on December 4 at the Golden Bay Progress Association’s (GBPA) Community Christmas Fair.
“We’ve been able to come to a special arrangement with Santa,” GBPA president Peter Carter said.
“He’ll be arriving with lights flashing and sirens blaring on a volunteer bushfire brigade truck about 11am, right in the middle of our celebrations.
“We’re expecting 400 to 500 people on the day.”
The Golden Bay Community Christmas Fair has been a popular feature of the festive season for more than a decade and will be supported again this year by Golden Bay Estate.
The Bay’s big Christmas event for 2016 will be held at Foreshore Reserve, at the corner of Marillana Drive and Dampier Drive, between 10am and midday.
This year’s attractions include a bouncy castle, petting zoo, pony rides, a face painter, a wandering magician, an H2Orb (inflatable ball which kids can pile into and walk on water) and a chocolate wheel with some “really good prizes”.
Secret Harbour Dockers’ Cricket Club will be organising games for the kids.
A $5 ticket for children gets them unlimited rides during the fair.
Mr Carter thanked the prize donors and Peet Limited’s Golden Bay Estate for ongoing support towards the cost of organising the family event.
“We’re aiming to break even on the day and we rely on our supporters to help make it happen,” he said.
Food and drink sales will also help cover costs, with a sausage sizzle and food vans available.
