The City of Mandurah is celebrating the upcoming International Day of People with a Disability with number of projects aimed at creating an inclusive and accessible community for all.
A Casino Royale night, specially organised to be inclusive and accessible, will be held on December 3, run in conjunction with the Disability Services Commission.
It’s set to be a great night, with finger food, DJ, casino games and giveaways from 7pm at the Bendigo Bank Stadium.
Tickets are for sale ($30 each) at Bendigo Bank Stadium reception or by calling the City on 9550 3799.
Community groups are also invited to apply for Access Participation and Inclusion Grants of up to $500.
The grants will support community groups who create opportunities for Mandurah residents to access, participate and be included in community life.
This fund aims to assist with the cost of hosting an event, activity or program that promotes access, participation and inclusion for people of all ages and abilities.
Grant applications are open for the whole financial year.
The all-terrain wheelchair is also available for free hire at the Mandurah Visitor Centre.
With the summer holidays just around the corner, the wheelchair is ideal for beach trips and bushwalks – bookings are essential.
The City is committed to ensuring people of all abilities have the opportunity to participate in community life, and have proper access to services and facilities, guided by the City’s Access and Inclusion Plan 2015-2020.
They have addressed this through inclusions in the Mandurah Aquatic and Recreation Centre Redevelopment such as ramp and wheelchair access into the new indoor pool and purposebuilt change facilities.
