Mandurah-based male fitness star Steve Morley claimed an impressive victory at the Bali Paradise Pro/Am last month.
Hosted by the International Natural Bodybuilding Association, the Bali event draws a number of Australia’s biggest names in male fitness.
But Morley was undaunted by the strong field, as he impressed on his way to his first international title.
The 24/7 Power Fitness Rockingham personal trainer said the win felt like a reward for his hard work over the past 12 months.
“I’d definitely say it’s a reward for effort. I competed in a similar event in America in 2015 and came fourth, so I was keen to turn that around and had my eyes on the prize this year,” he said.
“It was a great feeling to be able to share the win with some close mates of mine.”
Over the past 20 weeks, Morley dropped 15 kilograms and shed more than nine per cent of his body fat with his focus continuously fixed on winning in Bali.
“I was definitely driven to win. It was always on my mind when I was training,” he said.
“When I went to America to compete I wasn’t really there to take out the top prize, but I took it more seriously this time around.
“To come home with an international title and be up there as one of the best bodybuilders in the country is a huge achievement.”
The Mandurah local credited his friends for his strong showing at the Bali Pro/Am.
“Having a few of my close friends there really helped,” he said.
“You get judged on things like your stage presence and your tan so having them there really helped me out with my confidence.”
Always having a passion for fitness, Morley began competing in the sport two years ago.
Since then, he has built a name for himself on the circuit.
