The Cut Golf Course smashed their fundraising target at their 2016 charity event last Friday.
The event aims to raise funds for local women’s refuge Pat Thomas House, and had raised more than $43,000 over its last two events.
This year the Cut set themselves a target of $30,000 to coincide with 2016 being Pat Thomas House’s 30th birthday and surpassed their goal with ease.
Businesses, community groups and residents dug deep to take the amount of funds raised in 2016 to $38,077, making the three-year total more than $80,000.
The Cut operations manager Jodie Budworth praised the community and sponsors of the day for making the event a success.
“Without everyone who pitched in and sponsors like Acton who donated to the event, it just wouldn’t have gone ahead,” she said.
“It’s amazing to see everyone in the community pitching in to help out a worthy cause.
“To raise almost $40,000 for Pat Thomas House is huge, we’re ecstatic about it.”
An auction of items like sports memorabilia and jewelry made up $19,000 of the total amount.
The Cut began the annual fundraising event in 2014, picking the women’s refuge as their charity of choice.
In previous years the money has been used on installing security doors and screens at Pat Thomas House, and this year will be used fund children’s counselling sessions.
