Foundation Christian College opened their annual art show on Tuesday night, this year titled Imbue, (which means to inspire or permeate with a feeling or quality).
Art teacher Elmarie Krynauw said the exhibition was an opportunity for the students to inspire each other, and show the younger years what is possible in visual art.
“I definitely try and push them, because they’re all coming to art to do realism, but it’s not everyone’s cup of tea, and it’s not the only thing in art,” Ms Krynauw said.
Along with classical techniques such as landscape painting and portraiture, the exhibition includes more modern approaches to collage, projection, digital media, photography and more.
“We wanted to display what everyone can do, because all the sports kids have their sports day… so we wanted to have a night and a week to show our art,” year 11 art student Paige Crabb said.
College principal Andrew Newhouse said Imbue was a celebration of a valued aspect of the college curriculum.
“The time and effort they have spent on their projects has not been limited to school hours,” he said.
“I have witnessed our students spending their leisure time in the art room creating their masterpieces.”
The exhibition will be open to the public from 9am-2.30pm until the end of the week.
