HEADS UP: controlled burns have been scheduled for Warrangup Springs, Dawesville, for this afternoon.
The burns are subject to weather conditions, and aim to minimise the potential impact of a bushfire in the upcoming season by reducing the existing ground fuel loads.
Volunteers from the Mandurah southern district bushfire brigade and Falcon volunteer fire and rescue service, the City of Mandurah and a bushfire mitigation expert will assist the Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES) with the process.
People in the area are advised to avoid smoke inhalation by closing windows and doors, and turning air conditioners off.
Motorists should take care, turn on headlights and carefully follow traffic management signs when driving through areas affected by smoke.
