Peel Thunder’s crop of future league players will be led by former Peel Football League star Craig Otto for the next two seasons.
Otto has an extensive history in both the Peel Football League and with the Peel Thunder Football Club, having played 170 games for the Rockingham Rams, and being a member of the inaugural Peel Cavaliers side in 1996.
The mentor is a proven winner when coaching, having led the Rams colts to three premierships.
He also held the rank of league coach at the Rams for two separate stints.
Otto is a member of the Peel Football League’s hall of fame, and has had an extensive involvement with Peel Thunder, having been an assistant coach at reserves, under 16s and colts level.
He was the head coach of the under 14s, 15s and 16s groups over the past three years.
Eleven of his under 16s players were selected to the WA under 16s state academy this season.
A statement posted on Peel Thunder’s website said the club was thrilled to appoint Otto to lead their up and comers.
“Craig is extremely well respected within the local football community and has shown a great ability to get the best out of all players he has worked with,” the statement read.
“His communication skills and coaching philosophies with developing players are highly regarded and will hold the group in good stead in the coming seasons.”
Otto will be joined in the colts coaching ranks by another Peel Football League hall of famer in Brad Perry.
The Mandurah Mustangs life member was named as one of Otto’s assistant coaches.
The colts pre-season will begin with a session on Sunday, November 13.
