Mandurah dashcam records ‘accident waiting to happen’ as riders run red light

Just days after two motorbike fatalities on Pinjarra Road, dashcam footage has captured two riders running a red light at speed.

The vision was sent to Mandurah Mail on Tuesday morning, but was recorded on Friday, October 14 at the Pinjarra Road/Lakes Road intersection.

“My wife was furious last Friday after witnessing what could have been more motorbike carnage on our roads,” the sender of the footage wrote.

“Driving down Lakes Road she was overtaken by two youths on a motorbike (one looked no older than 12).

“Just behind her was another motorbike. Neither riders or passenger had helmets on.

“After being overtaken they pulled into the good guys carpark, just as two police officers on motorbikes came around the corner. As soon as they saw the three youths they put their lights on.

“Within moments the first motorbike accelerates past my wife’s car which is at a red light, not even looking or thinking twice, and crossed the intersection moments before and after other motorists are going through the lights.

“Then comes the second motorbike, same thing, through the red light not looking.”

The owners of the dashcam footage said they sent it to the media in the hope someone may recognise the riders and tell them to “pull their heads in”.

“It wasn't a bad outcome this time but imagine if one of those cars had of hit them at that speed,” they said.
