From Saturday, the WA National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) expands into the local government areas of Murray, Serpentine-Jarrahdale and Armadale.
Disability Services Minister Donna Faragher said an expected 1400 additional people with disability across the three areas would be able to access the benefits the scheme had to offer.
“I'm pleased more West Australians with disability will be experiencing the flexibility, choice and control over their support and services that the WA NDIS brings,” she said.
“Through the WA NDIS, people have the opportunity to create a plan for their lives which includes the support and services that work best for them.”
The expansion into the new areas was marked with a community event in Armadale on Friday.
“In addition to the activities on offer and the chance to meet the local WA NDIS team, it featured an expo which saw more than 40 organisations available to talk to people with disability, their families and carers about the support and services they provide,” Ms Faragher said.
People can check their eligibility for the WA NDIS by using the online 'Am I Eligible?' tool available at disability.wa.gov.au.
