A woman wanted by police was taken into custody on Thursday afternoon, after she and a man abandoned a two-year-old child to flee police.
Anain Victoria Whitehead was located when police patrolling the Mandurah area observed a man and a woman riding a bicycle on Forrest Street in company of a child.
They were followed to a house on Forrest Street.
Upon seeing police the man and woman ran from the area, leaving the two-year-old boy behind on his own.
The woman was located shortly after and was identified as Ms Whitehead.
The man was not located, and his identity has not yet been confirmed by police.
A police spokesperson said the relationship of the child to the two people on the bicycle would not be released.
The child was taken into police care and appropriate arrangements for the child’s ongoing care would be arranged.
