More than 150 ultimate frisbee enthusiasts flocked to Mandurah to take part in the WA Mixed-Gender Ultimate Championship over the weekend.
Ten teams comprising of 152 players descended on Meadow Springs Sporting Facility, with event director and Mandurah local Anna Haynes declaring the championships a fantastic success.
“This was the very first time we’ve held the championships outside of Perth and it was great to spread out to the regions,” she said.
“It’s nice to be able to showcase a higher level than just the local leagues.”
Teams spread from Esperance to Broome traveled to Mandurah for the tournament, with Fossils taking out the win after defeating Murdoch University in the grand final.
Haynes praised the Meadow Springs facility, and said the tournament was the perfect way for Mandurah to show off its prowess as a club.
“Having the championships here really allowed the local guys to showcase their facilities, which were absolutely fantastic,” she said.
“Plenty of supporters turned out to cheer on the teams and it was a great weekend.”
