Football in the Peel region could change dramatically in the coming years with the WA Football Commission set to undertake a major structural review of the sport throughout the state.
WA Football Commission CEO Gavin Taylor announced the review on Saturday, August 20, saying an agenda had been set to reevaluate football.
“In the life-cycle of any sport it is very important to continually review performance and structures to ensure they are relevant for today and also the generations of the future,” he said.
Since the WAFC’s inception in 1989 it has experienced significant success and growth and we are committed to ensuring this continues.”
The review will aim to ensure sustainability throughout the WAFL competition along with local leagues, talent development programs and grassroots level football.
“We are taking a proactive approach to reform the way we administer our sport to ensure football remains successful and sustainable so we can continue to foster its growth and development,” Mr Taylor said.
“Our focus is on ensuring the football system in WA operates in line with world-wide best practice.”
The review was scheduled to commence in August with outcomes to be determined in the first quarter of 2017.
