Want to host a community clean up day? Maybe a tree planting event in your area, or perhaps you need funding to get your community newsletter up and running?
Applications for the Peel-Harvey Catchment Council’s Small Local Action Grants have opened, offering funding of up to $1000 for environmental projects.
PHCC chairman Andy Gulliver said the inaugural grants would be available to environmental community groups and individuals, land managers and land care groups in the Peel-Harvey region with projects or activities aimed at supporting and enhancing the natural environment.
“We are really pleased to be able to provide these small, but important, grant opportunities to our community,” he said.
“We recognise the fabulous job our community does in protecting the local environment, and that sometimes small contributions can make a big difference.”
Canning MP Andrew Hastie encouraged community groups and individuals to apply for the funding.
“The PHCC Local Action Grants are a great opportunity for our community to put their hand up for financial help to make their environmental project a reality,” he said.
“In the Peel-Harvey area we have some incredible natural assets that need protecting and funding through this program can make a real difference.”
The Small Local Action Grants program will be open until June 2017, or until all funding has been allocated.
This project was supported by the Peel-Harvey Catchment Council, with funding from the Australian Government’s National Landcare Program.
