Pinjarra Police are urging residents to make sure they are security-conscious and more aware to the threat of burglary after a number of reports found victims failed to lock up properly.
Officer in Charge Sergeant Paul Robinson advised people to be more aware of their security, following reports of items being stolen from unlocked cars and properties.
“We’ve seen a trend of people reporting burglaries who have failed to lock up their sheds, barns or even cars properly,” he said.
“It’s just an extra couple of seconds to lock up properly and make everything secure, which can go a long to protecting your property.”
Sgt Robinson said rural properties with unlocked sheds provided burglars with an easy target.
“Off-road bikes, power tools, trailers and plenty of other things have been taken,” he said.
“We urge people to just be more aware and more conscious when it comes to security.”
