Mandurah Catholic College student Shanae Wardrope has returned from the School Sport Australia under 16s hockey championships in Melbourne with a bronze medal around her neck.
The up and coming hockey star helped WA finish in third place on the podium of the tournament.
WA played six games over the course of the week-long event, winning their playoff for bronze against Victoria.
Shanae is a member of Peel Hockey and plays her representative level for the Peel Rebels junior 9/10 team and the Peel Rebels Ladies Team.
Peel Hockey director of development Geraldine Puzey said the national appearance was reward for Shanae’s persistence.
“Shanae has persisted with her training and really worked on her game in recent times,” she said.
“She put in the hard yards and it’s great to see another Peel Hockey player representing WA.”
