Pinjarra defeat Halls Head
The Pinjarra Tigers league team paid tribute to their late president Terry Jeffs with a 13.12 (90) to 3.12 (30) win over Halls Head on Sunday.
In an emotional tribute match, Pinjarra put up 10 more scoring shots than the second-place Halls Head to romp the league heavyweights in front of a home crowd.
Halls Head opened the match with a bang keeping Pinjarra goalless in the first quarter, but the Tigers came out of the quarter-time break inspired and ran over the top of their opponents.
Errant kicking did nothing to help Halls Head’s cause, but the Tigers showed plenty of class as they now head into finals.
Joel O'Driscoll and Riese Wilkey each finished with four goals for the Tigers, while Matthew Piggott was named Halls Head’s best.
Rockingham defeat Mandurah
The Mandurah Mustangs’ horror season came to an end with a loss to the Rockingham Rams on Saturday.
The Mustangs end their season without a win after the 16.15 (111) to 8.10 (58) loss, and will now recuperate over the off-season.
Rockingham started the game impressively, booting four goals in the first and maintaining their lead throughout the match.
The Rams end the season one spot off the bottom of the ladder with five wins.
Baldivis defeat South Mandurah
Baldivis took out the Peel Football League minor premiership and picked up some much-needed good form heading into the finals with a sound defeat of fellow finals contenders South Mandurah on Sunday.
An arm-wrestle of a first half saw the Brumbies head into the long break up by just nine points, but they exploded in the second half to storm to a 7.12 (54) to 14.13 (97) win.
Daniel Kimberley nailed four goals for Baldivis while Brendon Jones was a force for South Mandurah.
Baldivis finish the regular season with a hefty 15-3 record, while South Mandurah qualify for the finals in fifth spot with 10 wins, eight losses.
Waroona defeat Centrals
The Waroona Demons will head into the Peel Football League finals on the back of a five-game winning streak after beating Centrals 10.15 (75) to 4.6 (30).
A defensive masterclass by the Demons restricted Centrals to just eight points in the second half, as Waroona ran away with the win.
Waroona shared the scoring load, with Adam Clancy their only multiple goal-scorer with two and nine total goal-scorers.
Rhett Mason was dominant for the Demons, while Thomas Keeffe impressed for Centrals.
Waroona will play Halls Head in the opening week of the finals, while Centrals round out their season in sixth place with a record of 7-11.
