A 63-year-old North Yunderup man faced Mandurah Magistrates Court on Tuesday morning charged with child exploitation offences, including the indecent recording of a child under 13.
The man appeared via video link from Hakea Prison.
He was not required to plead.
In February, a joint WA Police and Australian Federal Police taskforce commenced an investigation in response to child exploitation images posted on the internet.
As part of the investigation, detectives executed a search warrant at the man’s home in early August where they seized a computer and electronic storage devices.
Police will allege the devices belonged to him and that analysis of the devices identified images of child exploitation material.
The man was charged with:
- Two counts of possession of child exploitation material
- One count of use carriage service to distribute child exploitation material;
- One count of indecently record a child under the age of 13 years; and
- One count of use an optical surveillance device to visually record a private activity to which he was a party.
The man was remanded in custody to face court again on September 20.
