Mandurah MP David Templeman has welcomed Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull’s commitment of $2 million for the proposed Peel Youth Medical Service’s Youth Health Hub, but has called on the state government to fund the remainder of the project.
Mr Templeman said he would be raising the matter of state funding for the project with regional development minister Terry Redman in Parliament this week.
The entire project, which would bring together health and mental health services for young people into one co-located facility, is budgeted to cost $6 million.
Mr Templeman said the project has strong bipartisan support.
“I will be highlighting to the minister for regional development that Peel has not received any substantial funding for health related projects through Royalties for Regions compared to other regions in WA and that the Peel Youth Medical Service’s Youth Health Hub is acknowledged as a number one priority for the region,” Mr Templeman said.
Mr Templeman said if WA Labor was elected at the next election he would ensure the project was funded through Royalties for Regions.
