Carcoola primary school student Gina Leveridge loves to play Aussie rules, and got to show it by designing the school’s new football jerseys.
The students all designed jerseys to enter in the Western Australian Football Commission’s design-a-jersey competition.
Though they didn’t win a place there, the WAFC provided the school with a grant to have the jerseys Gina designed made for their team, as part of the WAFC’s resource assistance scheme.
Gina’s design pays homage to the school’s colours and old jersey design, with a modern twist on the lettering that reads “Carcoola”, which Gina hand-drew herself.
“They were supposed to be 3D,” Gina said.
She enjoys playing footy with her friends, and represents her school in junior competitions, where she prefers away games that let her visit new places around the region on Saturday mornings.
“When I do football… there’s like, lots of other people from other schools, and we play against different districts, like Baldivis and Mandurah,” she said.
