A Falcon resident has written to the Mail to express his disgust at recent vandalism in Seascapes.
“When so many decent people are trying really hard to make our environment a more pleasant place to live in, why are a bunch of mindless morons being allowed to roam free to spoil these efforts?” Peter Thomas wrote.
“I was saddened by what I saw at the weekend adjacent to the children’s playground at the rear of shopping complex in Boardwalk Boulevard. All of the newly planted flame trees had been severely damaged – one was completely broken at the lower trunk.
“Police are stretched incredibly thin by the State Government’s ‘efficiencies”, yet when such perpetrators are occasionally brought before our local magistrates court [they rarely] suffer the consequences of their actions.
“What can we citizens do to stop this constant attack on decency and our sense of well-being? Vigilantism obviously isn’t the answer, although this might one day become an undesirable outcome of the failure of our courts to protect us.”
