Waroona defeat Mandurah
A blistering 14-goal second half led the Waroona Demons to a belting 101-point victory over the still-winless Mandurah Mustangs on Saturday.
The Demons led by 26-points at the half-time break, but stretched that lead into a commanding victory by the time of the final siren, winning the game 21.23 (149) to 7.6 (48) win.
Waroona tallied an impressive nine goal scorers for the match, eight of which finished with multiple majors.
Adam Clancy topped their goal-scoring with four, while Josh Commisso was named the Demons’ best on ground.
Brennan Carlisle and Jordann Ness both booted two for Mandurah.
The huge win keeps Waroona in the top four. They share a 7-7 record with South Mandurah but hold a five per cent advantage on the ladder.
Halls Head defeat Rockingham
Halls Head was able to stretch their percentage gap over Baldivis and remain in top spot on the Peel Football League ladder with a huge win over Rockingham on Sunday.
Fresh off the back of a dominant Landmark Country Football Championships campaign, Halls Head stars Jesse Gribble and Joel Houghton led their team to a 12-goal victory over the Rams.
The pair combined for nine goals (Houghton five, Gribble four) and were prolific on the field.
Halls Head dominated the first quarter jumping out to a five-goal lead at the first break. They never looked back, maintaining and building on their lead throughout the game to finish 6.12 (48) to 18.12 (120) winners.
Gribble was named best afield for Halls Head while Timothy Taylor received the honour for Rockingham.
Baldivis defeat Pinjarra
Unlike the first two matches of the round, Baldivis and Pinjarra played out an absolute thriller with the Brumbies running away five-point victors.
Baldivis jumped out to an early lead with more action in their forward half over the first two quarters, but a spirited third from the Tigers saw them take a two-point lead into the fourth.
Both teams tussled in the final quarter, but Baldivis kicked two goals to Pinjarra’s one and finished the match 7.13 (55) to 7.8 (50) victors.
Ruckman Jacob Williams was outstanding for Pinjarra, while Jordan Wythes shone for Baldivis.
Baldivis will take on Waroona while Pinjarra play Halls Head in two top-four clashes next week.
South Mandurah defeat Centrals
The Falcons kept pace with the top four despite a massive scare from the Mundijong Centrals on Sunday.
In a sharp-shooting contest between South Mandurah’s Brad Holmes (eight goals) and Mundijong’s Daniel Wilson (seven goals), the Falcons managed to narrowly avoid a loss and win the game 16.9 (105) to 15.11 (101).
Centrals jumped out of the gates, booting five goals in the first term and dashing away to a three goal lead.
But the Falcons regained their lost ground in the second, heading into half time just two points down.
From there, the game was played as a tug-of-war.
Both teams fought fiercely but a huge game from Holmes allowed South Mandurah to take a victory.
Brendon Jones was also damaging for the Falcons, while Christopher Lee shone for Centrals.
