Police were called to a crash on Ellis Street in central Mandurah on Monday afternoon, after a driver hit a 4WD parked on a verge before smashing a solid brick wall.
The owner of the house, who was sleeping with her baby in the room opposite the wall, said she was woken up by the noise which she described as terrifying.
“If they had been driving faster they would have killed me and my baby,” she said.
Her brother, who was having a drink inside, saw the driver’s Holden hit his 4WD and smash into the wall before fleeing about 1pm.
The home owner said this type of behaviour was common in the area and she did not let her four children play outside anymore because she was too afraid they would get hurt.
Police are currently investigating.
