A woman who spat and kicked at police and ambulance officers following a bizarre incident near Boddington in 2014 escaped an immediate prison term on Tuesday.
Tanya Caroline Barnes faced Mandurah Magistrates Court charged with six offences in relation to a December 4, 2014 crash which left another driver injured.
The court heard Barnes had been driving erratically, and in the wrong lane, about 5pm when she collided with an oncoming Holden Colorado on Pinjarra Williams Road.
Witnesses reported Barnes had been speeding up behind other vehicles then braking heavily, and swerving over the road.
The collision tipped the Holden onto its side, with its driver requiring medical attention.
When police arrived, Barnes provided a false name and refused a breath test.
She then produced a kitchen knife and started stabbing herself in the chest and neck.
This prompted police to taser Barnes, before transferring her to a waiting ambulance, where she became aggressive with officers.
Counsel for Barnes said his client had significant psychological issues and may have been experiencing a low-level epileptic episode at the time of the crash.
Barnes, who was on a suspended imprisonment order at the time, has previous convictions for assaulting medical staff.
She was placed on another suspended imprisonment order and fined $1000.
She was also placed on an intensive supervision order for 12 months with program requirements.
