Construction has started for a new multi-million-dollar IGA store in fast-growing residential area Austin Lakes.
The new 1,000 square metre IGA supermarket will be located on the corner of Inlet Boulevard and Schoales Bend, South Yunderup, and has already provided 150 jobs for local tradies.
The location will also accommodate the new Austin Lakes Shopping centre, a central retail hub for the residents in Austin Lake estate which will offer several specialty shops and services in addition to the new supermarket.
Austin Lakes IGA will focus on fresh fruit and vegetables, ready to go meals, a full delicatessen service and local Western Australian products and brands.
The store will also have its own Cellarbrations liquor store, parking bays for more than 90 vehicles and an in-store cafe with an alfresco area overlooking the lake.
Austin Lakes IGA owner Karen James said the store will have its own identity and said she was excited to be part of the local community.
“Plans are moving along and we’re excited to be part of the Austin Lakes community,” she said.
The doors are set to open in October 2016 and the supermarket expects to create 40 jobs in the community.
