The accolades and praise have continued for Mandurah Magic import Trevor Setty after his match-winning performance against Lakeside, the latest coming in the form of player of the week honours.
Setty was absolute dynamite against the Lightning, exploding for 45 points and 12 rebounds and earning the State Basketball League’s weekly award.
The Magic star also clinched a victory for his team, hitting a buzzer-beating three-point shot with 0.57 seconds left on the clock.
His prolific outing helped lift the Magic off the bottom of the SBL ladder and kept their playoff hopes alive as they trail the top-eight by three wins.
In a season marred by injury and unfortunate circumstances, Setty has been a shining beacon for the Mandurah Magic.
The swing man has played all of the Magic’s 19 games, averaging 23.8 points, 9.6 rebounds and an impressive field goal percentage of 41.5 per cent per game.
His 45 points against Lakeside were a season-high. Prior to the game his best outing was a 41 point, 18 rebound game against the Stirling Senators on April 2.
Setty currently sits in 10th on the league’s scoring rankings.
He will need to put in another big performance if Mandurah is to beat the seventh-placed Perth Redbacks on Friday night.
