The City of Mandurah took action to address the speeding complaints by local residents on Hickman Road, Silver Sands, at the council meeting on Tuesday.
The City approved unanimously the installation of a two lane angled slow point in front of numbers 17 and 19 on Hickman Road.
Cr Peter Jackson said it was a sensible solution to ‘do it and see how it goes’.
Hickman road resident John Matthiessen said he was happy to see the problem being addressed but failed to see the effect a single slow point would have on the 800 metre road.
“I don’t see the point in only one, two yes,” he said.
Cr Ron Wortley said the council would conduct further consultation.
“This is not the end, this is the beginning,” he said.
The council will receive the results further traffic investigation in six and 12 months time.
