The Shire of Murray approved to limit the parking time around Pinjarra Junction shopping centre to three hours on the last council meeting, though the vote was close.
The underground carpark on Lot 300 on George Street, Lots 15, 16 and 17 on James Street and lot 314 on Murray Street will now introduce 3 hour time limited parking on particular portions of the properties.
The new private parking agreement is currently being negotiated between the Shire and Colorado Properties.
The restriction followed the same three hour limit adopted by several other parking facilities around the Junction shopping centre in 2008.
Once the agreement is formalised, the parking restrictions will be effective Monday to Friday 8.30 am to 50.30 pm.
The change aims to ensure visitors make a proper use of the facilities and allow for other drivers to park in the shopping centre area.
The new parking policy would have an estimated cost of $30,280 per annum to be able to provide three weekly inspections of three hours each the ensure the vehicles fulfill the parking requirements.
The Shire will review the policy in 12 months time to assess any safety issues or negative impacts on town.
